SSC CHSL Syllabus & Exam Pattern :

The SSC CHSL Syllabus is prescribed with the notification by Staff Selection Commission.  SSC CHSL Syllabus is very much comprehensive for those candidates who have followed NCERT Study Contents.

The SSC CHSL recruitment exam is conducted in three Stages or tiers –

Tier 1 : Computer-based objective test
Tier 2 : pen-paper-based descriptive test and
Tier 3 : Typing test/ skill test.

 

Candidates have to clear one by one exam for final selection.

Note- In Tier-I, there will be a negative marking of 0.50 for every wrong answer.

The qualified candidates in SSC CHSL Tier – 1 exam are called for SSC CHSL Tier-2 (The Second Stage).

SSC CHSL Syllabus -Tier-2 :

Tier 2 of SSC CHSL is a descriptive exam conducted in pen and paper mode. This exam assesses the writing skills of the candidates. The Paper comprises –

  1. writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and
  2. a Letter/ Application of approx. 150-200 words.

The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-2 is 33% and the scored mark is included in merit. The candidate can opt either Hindi or English to write.

SSC CHSL Syllabus – Tier-3 : Skill Test / Typing Test


SSC CHSL Tier-3 is the Skill Test or Typing Test which is of qualifying nature. Skill Test/ Typing Test is in accordance with the post, the candidate has applied for.

  • Tier 3  exam is for those who have been qualified in Tier 1 and Tier 2.
  • Typing Test is conducted only for candidates applying for Data Entry Operator (DEO) post.
  • Candidates have to qualify for the test at the prescribed speed on Computer.
  • Typing Test:
    • For English, typing speed of 35 words per minute is required. For Hindi, typing speed of 30 words per minute is mandatory.
    • Typing Test is applicable for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, LDC, and Court Clerk posts.
  • Skill Test: Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer.

The final merit of the successful candidates is determined on the basis of total scores in Tier-2 and Tier-3.
